My first post

After the recent market sell down, I am curious as to how our stocks are fairing. As prices have dropped quite significantly from previous highs, thus this is a good time to accumulate some fundamentally stable stocks. The problem is which stock should I buy?

Personally I find this is a good time to buy into some large cap stocks or blue chips. Therefore the answer to the above question is the creation of this blog. Investors, who are looking into buying those large cap stocks or constituents of Straits Times index, might find this blog useful. I hope my blog can help to save investors time when doing a stock research or to shortlist stocks before doing a detail research.

Weekly I shall display some fundamental ratios and technical numbers of all the 30 stocks that form part of the Straits Times index. These data will be extracted from DBS Vickers Clarity and compiled in excel. Due to usage limitation of Clarity, I am only allowed to extract a maximum of 20 stocks and 5 fields for each stock from Clarity. So I need to spend some time to merge and compile all the stocks and some fields into excel.

This weekend I will start my first compilation and post an image capture of the excel list. Below are some of the popular fundamental ratios and technical numbers used by investors to screen stocks. So I believe they are sufficient fields to be part of the stocks screening process.

Fundamental

  • Market Capitalisation
  • Price to Earnings Ratio
  • Price to Book Ratio
  • Return on Equity
  • Current Ratio
  • Debt to Equity Ratio
  • Dividend Yield

Technical

  • % Diiference Between Close SMA 200D
  • 30 Day RSI

I am looking forward to compile my list over this weekend.
