Invitation to soft launch of Worldex (Asia)

Last month I received a call from a Telemarketer inviting me to attend the soft launch of Worldex Asia. The telemarketer claimed that I am guaranteed to receive a free holiday package to Hong Kong, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok at the end of the attendance. The package includes fully paid travel and hotel expenses for 4 days and 3 nights.

I did attend the presentation at Tong “Rolex” Building where the sales person tried to sell me a travel package costing more than $10,000SGD. I was not really interested in buying anything because I attended just to collect for the free gifts.

I did receive the holiday voucher at the end of the presentation and to my surprise, the vouchers are quite dubious and not really that free. Here are the points that I can summarise for the benefits of those who decide to attend the soft launch.

1) The Hong Kong destination is already out of stock. So I think you can skip the invitation if you wish to claim for this destination.
2) The free holiday package is handled by some unknown contractor by the name of Dynamikz Netwerkz which the company themselves claimed that they are not a travel agency under one of the terms and conditions. This company can only be contacted through email. There is no contact number given out.
3) You need to pay a non-refundable fee of $50 per person when you are booking for your destination.
4) You need to pay all taxes including but not limited to airport and airline taxes, room taxes and peak period surcharges (if applicable) when I contacted them through email.
5) Under one of the terms and conditions, you may be requested to attend a promotional event organised by the hotel or resort as part of the resort marketing effort and promotional efforts. Failure to attend may result in you being charged normal room rates for your entire stay.

If anyone has redeemed the voucher, please do share your experience as I am still contemplating whether I should redeem it. The voucher has a validity of one year though.

Warning: Worldex (Asia) is now known as Colonial Strategies

be extremely careful when dealing with these people. i attend such a event by colco venture in ngee ann city conducted by maxmega and muhammadiya travel & tour and pressurized me to sign up on the spot. i backed out. later realized it was a time share scam. be careful and don't venture out for this free holiday.

hi thanks for the advice. i wasnt interested in buying anything. im sure they cant resort to hard selling. you can always say NO.

i am just curious about the free travel. i hope someone can share their experience

Hi,

As the manager of Dynamikz Netwrkz, let me just clarify on your point that there are no terms and conditions that state the booking fees of $50 are non-refundable as you say. Of course they are refundable in the event the dates are not available. Pls read carefully the terms before making such comments.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for dropping by.

There was a misinformation from the beginning that the travel package is fully paid.

Who in the right mind is going to choose a travel date into hoping that those dates are fully booked and hope to get it refunded? That means bottom line you still need to pay for the travel and its not free.

Furthermore i feel Worldex is not sincere in giving out the travel package. Your company choose an unknown agent where they can only be contacted through email?! I attended the Mariott one and the free hotel stay was a breeze to book. You can book through Mariott themselves. Why cant Worldex handle the travel themselves?

Dear Mr. Mike Dirnt,
We have fully investigated your complaint.
We can now confirm that indeed you were represented truthfully and honestly. If you had have contacted us directly we would have been happy to point out the following matters to you in person.
1) You were indeed sent a document via e-mail two days before your due date that stated:
"Holiday is valid for one year at all times of year including school and public holidays subject to industry standard terms on location and time AND AVAILABILITY OF CERTIFICATES AT SPONSORS OFFICE".
This is NOT a trick to alieviate ourselves from any destination but a fact. If we buy in bulk to bring down the price to include flights, we have a set number at any one time available on a first come, first serve basis. This allows our visitors the right to choose time and destination freely rather than book country, hotel and time over the phone on the initial call. Some have received all destinations, some have received some destinations. ALL however have received a vacation including flights. NONE have left our launch under any impression that a venue was available if it was not. ALL visitors that we are gladly thankful to have visited have been made aware before they leave. ALL visitors have had the opportunity of being put on a one-for-one swap list when we receive a new stock to swap a voucher if it does not contain their preferred choice by private courier at our cost.
2) Dynamikz Networkz request that you contact them initially by e-mail to ensure that all requests are in writing to create an efficient service. They are happy to call you at their cost if you request. They also have a registered travel shop with a T.A. number and are therefore not an, "unknow contractor" as you comment.
3) All travel agents booking fees are non refundable and all travel agents charge taxes. ALL! These are all stated in writing in advance.
4)We cannot book your vacation as we do not have a T.A. number and are not a travel agent. That is the law Mike. We suggest you research sir.
Lastly, we are very greatful to Dynakikz that they have decided to credit the inadvance payment we have made to those whom wish any location not available, including Hong Kong and take that inadvance payment off the cost of a standard priced, single holiday and allow our participants to book a holiday to Hong Kong for as little as $150 SGD per person for flight, hotel and taxes etc. This is for sure the cheapest deal in Singapore. And we thank you Dynamikz as many have thanked us due to you.
The management.

Thanks worldex asia for dropping by and making an effort to clarify

The bottom line that i am trying to say is that you still need to pay for the package. And i was misinformed by your telemarketeer that its fully paid. I persistently asked her whether i need to pay a single cent. The answer was NO! So i attended the soft launch. I wouldnt have attended if only i knew it was NOT absolutely free.

"We cannot book your vacation as we do not have a T.A. number and are not a travel agent."

1) then may i know how do you arrange your clients travel under your holiday program?

2) i may not know the law but from a logical point of view, do i need to be a travel agent in order to book for someone holiday package? for example as a travel gift to someone, i can arrange the necessary travel and hotel booking for him/her to travel. travel agent is just a middle person

3) Lastly may i refer you to T&C #17. "Dynamikz Netwerkz is only a marketing agent and NOT a TRAVEL AGENCY."

This is something conflicting with your statements regarding booking of travel. You engage an agent which is not a travel agent but having a T.A number?

Anyway to be fair, i am still waiting for other visitors to give comments on their travel

Like Mike, I too feel that WorldEx had misrepresented its "A holiday completely FREE" packages with regard to the Hongkong holiday.

I say this because I feel that WorldEx knew in advance of the presentation on 7 August 2009 that the Hongkong destination was not available. WorldEx had (it appears) already printed in advance of the presentation on 7 August 2009, the holiday vouchers (which was given to me at the end of the presentation) with the words "out of stock" on the Hongkong destination. However, WorldEx's email of 4 August 2009 inviting me and my partner for the presentation clearly represented that the Hongkong destination was still available.

At the end of the presentation, together with the holiday voucher, I was also given a note which stated I had WorldEx's "personal Assurance that when our supplier Redelivered Hong Kong Voucher, we will be happy to forward a voucher without all cost to you good self". Subsequently, I contacted WorldEx (at 67384378) on several occasions to enquire what action WorldEx had taken to make the Hongkong holiday available. I was informed by the Manager that she had no idea. I feel that WorldEx is not sincere in making any efforts to offer the Hongkong destination.

I hope WorldEx can explain what efforts it is taking in this regard or if its "personal Assurance" has any meaning. Has anyone who has attended the presentation been offered the Hongkong holiday? Maybe it was not available at all in the first place to begin with. I hope I am wrong. - Angie

This is the reply from Dynamikz Netwrkz when i emailed them asking abt the HK free package. Why do we need to PERSONALLY go down the office to make redemption and it's stated that it will take abt ONE HOUR time. Both husband and wife will need to go together. What is this all about? Another 3 hours presentation to "force" us to purchase the time share thing? Should i go? Does anyone ever really travel with this "free" package from Worldex before?

"As part of our commitment to serve you better, all submissions and enquiries pertaining to travel vouchers must be done in person at our new office at:

400 Orchard Rd#05-11 Orchard Towers S238875.

Strictly by appointment only. Walk in submissions / enquiries will not be entertained as we need to arrange for a customer service consultant to attend to you.

Kindly email us at info@dynamikz.com to schedule an appointment date / time at least 3days in advance and we will revert to you. Appointments can be made for Mon - Friday 2 - 8pm.

Important information:

As part of the sponsoring company's requirements, as part of the redemption process, you will be shown the benefits of traveling with us in the future. This session will approximately take an hour of your time and is solely for marketing purposes with no purchase obligations attached.

Both husband and wife must be present during the redemption. We apologize for the lack of child facilities and kindly appreciate your kind understanding that children will not be allowed.

It's ridiculous to have us to sit through another presentation in order to redeem the travel voucher! This is definitely NOT explained to us before we agreed to attend the WorldEx presentation.

I hope WorldEx or Dynamikz Netwrkz can give us a good explanation on what's happening. Otherwise I may have to bring it up to the Straits Times forum page in order to warn other people of such a scam.

Hi Guys, I'm one of the victims of DATA DYNAMIKZ aka DATA DELI aka DYNAMIKZ TRAVELZ PTE. LTD.

I've attended the presentation at garraway. The telemarketer who invited me promised a "FREE" Holiday traveling with SQ or Cathay Pacific carrier with "FREE HOTEL" for me & my wife.

You wouldn’t believe this when I received the voucher. There are a whole lot of terms and conditions. We need to pay $50 x no. of traveling persons
(Booking fee) x no. of traveling person, airline taxes, fuel charges, airport taxes, convenience charges (what is this?) and of course the GST charges. All these were not mentioned by their staffs. It’s really like paying for your own holiday.

I've tried to book for my "FREE" holiday, emailing to info@dynamikz.com & I was told that no hotel rooms were available for me to book, although 5 alternative dates were given. Also the carrier that they promised is not true. 8 months have gone by and I am still waiting for to go for this holiday. I believe their tactics is to procrastinate till the expiry of the “FREE” holiday.

BEWARE! Don't be fooled! This is really a SCAM! Don't ever accept such invitations. You would really be wasting your precious time. This is really a company out to deceive people .

I will be going to CASE to lodge a report so that they can stop cheating people. Below are all relevant information. I hope it can be useful to you guys.

That is the biggest evident of SCAM! I will just pass this free holiday then!

Anyway my blog is good enough to warn others. If you search worldex asia in google, my post will appear first. :P

I am glad I read this today. I was still considering to spend time on this "free voucher" or not. There was no mention of booking fee and was a promised free holiday gift. My husband and I had already wasted 3 hours there, excluding out travel time! Supposed to be 90min presentation but they delayed and held us there. I am not going to waste more time on this redeemption after the auto-reply from Dynamikz Netwerkz. My advise to similar "victims", do not harbour any more hope. For targetted ones, don't even bother to attend the presentation.

Anonymous said...

Phew, I'm really glad I googled and found your blog, Mike! Was invited today by a telemarketer and thought it sounded too good to be true. Thanks everyone for your contributions. We really ought to write in to ST Forum abt it or highlight it to CASE. Can't believe how blatant they can be. Downright misleading & should be snubbed out right away!!

Ling said...

To add on, I agree to go for the presentation as I have no slightest idea it has anything to do with "holiday". I asked the telemarketer many questions so I thought I had screened out Timeshare/ holiday type of investment. I was told the presentation is regarding "foreign account investment" and names like Barclay, Global Securities are brought up. It has been so many years and with loads of complaints, I am indeed disappointed Time-share/ holiday investment marketing is still alive in S'pore!

Mike Dirnt said...

ling i was given the same impression too. when i asked about their home website, the telemarketeer pointed me to their parent company global securities website. i thought its something to do with investment too

Ling the marriott one is genuine and the free gift is a sincere one. i did write a post about marriott.

I received a call 2 days ago from Worldex and it was exactly as what you folks have shared here. The telemarketer assured me that it is not timeshare and the holiday will be fully paid for. I was skeptical but agreed to attend the 'soft launch'. Now that I've googled and confirmed my suspicion, I'm not going to waste my time going for the presentation. Thanks for sharing your experience here.

Ling said...

Thanks Mike. I attended Marriot session last year and used the cash provided in the NETS card. Yes. Genuine upfront gift.

Anonymous said...

I got the vouchure as well. Happy till I read all the T&Cs and decided to do a search. So no one has successfully redeem the "free" holiday ?

Anonymous said...

I got a call today from WorldEx too! Got the usual sales pitch and of course googled "WorldEx" as this scheme so smells like a time share trap. Thanks to Mike's blog, it confirmed my suspicions. Well like I always say, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Anonymous said...

I just got a call 2 mins ago. The telemarketer claimed that they are selling land based property. He even said "just like land banking." Probably trying to fool people to think that it's similar to Walton Internation or the Profitable Plat kind of investment.

Conman are on the loose. Must they call come from south asia?

Mike Dirnt said...

Their telemarketeers are based in the same office as the location of the presentation which is at Rolex Building.

If you go there, the place is really messy and out of class

I suggest you guys giving CASE a call so that they can cease WORLDEX ASIA, DYNAMIKZ TRAVELZ & DATA NETWERKZ. THEY ARE CHEATING COMMONERS LIKE US SO JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL. Many friends of mine have attended such events but unable to claim their " FREE HOLIDAY" by DYNAMIKZ TRAVEL PTE LTD. Lately i received a call BY A LADY from DYNAMIKZ TRAVEL, NUMBER IS: 6836 7514 telling me i won a FREE 4Day/3Night holiday to HONGKONG,PHUKET ETC( FULLY PAID).I REPLIED TO THE TELEMARKETER" YOUR COMPANY " DYNAMIKZ TRAVEL " HAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINS IN THE WEBSITE & U EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE YOU?" I TOLD HER LEGAL ACTIONS WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST YOUR COMPANY VERY SOON & I'VE RECORDED HER CONVERSATION. SHE QUICKLY HUNG UP.

Anonymous said...

My wife and I wasted 2.5 precious hrs at Rolex Bldg last evening. I was suspicious right from start. The office looks bare with just a few cheap furniture, the staff looks inmature and the stationery eg paper files and papers use looks very cheap. But they were very convincing especially the Manager, Darren. We almost sign up thinking that it is only a $2000 down deposite. Thankfully we had the senses to walk away when presented with the contract. Reading this blog just confirmed my suspisious that it is all a scam.

Dear All,
I would like to share my experience with dynamikz travel. I went for a talk at orchard towers. Here are the things they promised me during the presentation.

1. CHEAP AIR TIX. CHEAPER THAN ANYWHERE I CAN GET FROM THE NET OR MY MONEY BACK.

2. CHEAP ACCOMODATION AT 5 STAR HOTELS. EVEN GAVE ME EXAMPLES OF $100SGD at SHERATON BANGKOK SUITE A NIGHT.

3. FREE AIRPORT TRANSFER

4. CAN BOOK FOR ANYONE BE IT FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS EVEN IF I AM NOT TRAVELLING.

MEMBERSHIP PRICE AT 4900SGD With free buffet club vouchers and 2 free vacation.

I pulled the price down to 3300SGD without the free vacation.

After i went home, i check their website and realised their air tix search links to Zuji and there are alot of bad links on the website.

I also check the email of the person who spoke to me and the email on the namecard bounced.

I decided to go back on the 3rd day for a full refund as they have a 3 day cooling period

The office only had 1 lady who refuse to attend to my case and refer me back to the lady who spoke to me. The lady who sold me the member wasn't around and i insisted the lady in the office to write me a letter stating that i have been here on the 3rd day insisting a refund and got her signature.

I manage to get the lady's number who sold me the membership as well and tried to called her. I told her i want a refund and she said she will get the manager the next day. After that she start to sms me persuading me to believe her and i won't regret it. She insist i try the service to know that she wasn't lying.

I had to go overseas the next day and came back 9 days later. I send a mail to their travel office and wanted to check the price of the ticket to Incheon Airport S. Korea in Dec for 1 px for a friend.

They replied 1050 SIA. I check Zuji its 1090 after which i check SIA. SIA is 1044. I realised there is no significant lower in price as what they claimed.

I then check the hotel rate of a few hotels in Taipei for my mum and her friend. They gave to a few to choose from namely paradise hotel for $160, Cosmos for 120, etc. I am furious to find that for paradise i can get for only 80 from agoda or a few other travel wesite, i can also get cosmos for 110. The other hotels they gave me was 10-20 bux cheaper than other online websites. The point is where is the SHERATONS/HILTON/ST REGIS suites etc that they shown on their slides? Although i ask for 100 per nite budget, i expected something better than 3 star hotels since they shown me fantastic stuffs on their slides.

I wanted a refund inmmediately, but was turned down by their manager who claimed that the air tickets are cheaper than anywhere else except mainline carriers since they are the distributors themselves. I do not take this for an answer as they claim they will be 10-20% cheaper than any price i find on the net! The manager then claimed if $6 is the issue, then they will sell me 1044. I am no longer interested as its not cheaper at all!

He also claimed the hotels are cheaper already, so they have keep to their promise and i have no case against them.

I then tried to book a hotel for my mum and her friend and again the manager this time says i can't book for anyone else unless i am travelling in the group! I am furious as i am not told this way during the presentation. He decided to make this an exception but i no longer want all this rubbish anymore.

Till now i have yet to get my membership card nor had i received my buffet club voucher. They claim i will received in after 29 days. Its past that and i haven't receive anything.

Oh yes by the way they want to charge me $60 for airport transfer which they claimed to be free.

The person who sold me the membership had lied to me, but i cant prove it. The contract didn't write anything about what she said. I can't get any refund, i can't do anything. I am cheated.

Mike Dirnt said...

Hi Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear and thank you for sharing your experience with Dynamikz, the company itself.

Most of us here were referred to Dynamikz from Worldex Asia. Now it confirms my suspicious that Dynamikz is indeed a newly formed scam company.

In future, do be very careful before signing up for any travel membership. Nowadays online booking for traveling is so convenient that you dont even need to go through any agency. You can DIY yourself. Even if you want to go through an agent, choose the reputable ones.

And if you are really looking for a prestigious travel memebership, try the Marriott one. I can assure you that they are a good company. But membership is expensive though.

By the way, have you tried reporting to case? I hope these scammers will face justice soon!

Anonymous said...

Just be very careful...they gave me a call, I told them I was not interested, but like one person said, they tried to project the image that they are an investment company and not some sleazy timeshare $2 capital coy. Anyway, these firms come and go easily...difficult to really prosecute them...maybe easier to prostitute them...LOL.just kidding.

Moral of the story is If it sounds too good to be true it is. Except the Mariott offer.

Dynamikz said...

Dear All,

Please do not be so shallow and bicker on internet forums without knowing your facts and figures first.

To date, Dynamikz have fulfilled over 2000 redemptions via the travel vouchers we have issued and anyone is free to fix up an appointment to verify that with us and have a browse through the files...No they are not fabricated and the files contain valid hotel vouchers and airtickets...I personally invite any of you to come by via appointment to take a look.

Regarding appointments at our office, our products are not timeshare related as Dynamikz Travel is a valid travel agent with a travel license and not a newly "formed" scam company. Our license issue dates back to 2007 and you may refer to the STB website to verify that.

Bottom line is this, every company wishes to market its product and services and its like barter trade...you get a gift in exchange for your time...the vouchers are not for FREE travel but rather for SUBSIDIZED travel (ie. you pay the taxes)and we only sell the vouchers to third parties for distribution and as the sponsoring company of the SUBSIDY we give on your trip, all we are doing is marketing our products and services.

When gyms give free trials, they try to market their program to you when you use the free trial. Similarly, when spas, anti aging, anti balding etc etc companies give you a free or subsidised first trial, they are trying to market their products and services.

Do not jump to conclusions that just because its travel, its timeshare. There is a very clear distinction between timeshare programs and travel discount programs. If you need to be educated on what a timeshare is, please do look up the definition on the internet and you will find it.

We do not engage in hard selling or pressure techniques to market our products and services and its a very straight forward "You like it, you take it, you don't like it there are no purchase obligations, we part of as friends"

That has been our approach and will always be our approach. Feel free to write to us at clubinfo@dynamikz.com should you have any further query.

Warm Regards
Management,
Dynamikz

Hi all,
I just received a call few mins ago from Worldex Asia asking me to collect the free travel voucher. I did not agree to an appt bcos i was busy. And i know that nothing is free except the air we breathe. If there is no selling, why would it have to take an hour? & the person on the phone told me it is a new company 4-6 mths in S'pore, trying to advertise. Reading the comments here, i am more convinced that i should give it a miss. Yes, buying one's time with a free gift is fair enough but having little options for people to feel happy with what they've got is quite a pain. A seller should always put customers' needs & wants as their priority, not theirs.

As per dynamikz "Bottom line is this, every company wishes to market its product and services and its like barter trade...you get a gift in exchange for your time...the vouchers are not for FREE travel but rather for SUBSIDIZED travel (ie. you pay the taxes)and we only sell the vouchers to third parties for distribution and as the sponsoring company of the SUBSIDY we give on your trip, all we are doing is marketing our products and services."

"Yes, buying one's time with a free gift is fair enough but having little options for people to feel happy with what they've got is quite a pain."

I think Chan Mali Chan has given
a fair comment

1) so its true that the travel is not free

2) its a subsidised travel as per dynamikz. even if its subsidised, customers should have the free option to choose locations (including Hong Kong as per promised) and their choice of hotel (probably any hotel of the same rating).

just like the advertising model of california fitness. they offer free gym trial in exchange of your time. but during the trial, do they prohibit you from using any kind of gym equipments? visitors on free trial have an equal chance of trying all the equipments like the other members. i know because i have gone through the trial and its a fair advertising model.

anyway i decided to give the subsidised travel a pass as i dont want to end up staying in a "horrifying" hotel

Its definitely a scam... I did not receive any free travel packages as promised a few months back. I was also given the cold shoulder by many of their managers who is not responsible enough to tell me that Worldex is really not giving out the free holidays.
Now they have the cheek to call me up again to offer a new product with mention of the so-called free gift again...
Worldex should stop scamming people!!!

Misinterpretation is a very serious offense in Singapore!! You have to seek CASE & STB (Singapore Tourism Board) for advise.

Case will be able to give you better advice than anyone else. Alternatively, you may want to check with Small Claim Court to see how you can get back your refund.

Lodge a complaint towards STB against Dynamikz Travel. I supposed a lot of victims's hard earned $ have been conned by them. If STB doesn't stop them, more people will be fallen into their trap..

Dear All,

There is nothing misleading about Dynamikz and our vouchers. Our vouchers are all made possible by our strong overseas sponsors who provide classy accommodations in locations like Bangkok, Phuket, K.Samui, Pattaya and Hong Kong and the reason why we are still present and why we are not some dodgy "timeshare" company that needs to change its name every once in awhile to avoid detection. As earlier mentioned, we have to date, over 2000 successfully used vouchers, from Singaporeans who have utilized and enjoyed their SUBSIDIZED holidays and completed travel. Before jumping to conclusions and joining the bandwagon of flaming the company here on the internet, behind the facade of your computer, why not fix an appointment to come see us in person to look through our files of completed travel. We more than welcome you with sincere open arms because we are proud of what we have done and achieved via these vouchers. There is no misleading or misrepresentation in the vouchers and the terms are very clearly stated.

Let us know explain where your frustration is stemming from. Well, because of our high success rate in voucher redemptions for SUBSIDISED travels, we have been approached by various other businesses to purchase our vouchers. These include holiday clubs, insurance agents, property companies, and some restaurants as well. In the process of these companies trying to sell you their products or convincing you to come for their talks and presentations, they may have overpromised the capacity of the voucher by saying its entirely FREE etc etc and that is why there are frustrated people like you as a result.

To Mike Dirnt, well the accommodations given are not lousy because as mentioned, our sponsors are marketing their hotels and properties and are not going to shoot themselves by giving you a crappy stay!

When you do a search on the net on our company and voucher, all you see is the negative from people like all of you who have no faith in the voucher, or have been overpromised by some third party that its entirely free and blah blah blah (not to mention you were foolish to believe them in the first place). But has there been a single complaint on the net so far about an unpleasant holiday provided by us? The answer is NO and that plus the fact that over 2000 travellers have used our vouchers and completed travel speaks louder than all this lousy foolish bickering.

Once again, anyone who wishes to see us in person to verify facts and figures is warmly welcome. Just drop us an email and fix up an appointment we will be glad to show you full airtickets and hotel check in vouchers...these can't be faked and are all authorised by the travellers themselves... The only thing we kindly ask in return is for you to come back here and write "I went to Dynamikz office, and indeed what they say is true"

Finally to MR Anonymous on 19th Oct, you say you suppose alot victims hard earned money has been conned?? Kindly explain how can money be conned when the travel is already subsidized to begin with..!!

By the way guys, we have finally revamped our website and in future, you would be able to do your voucher redemptions via our site and check on instant availabilties! For now, enjoy the homepage...www.dynamikz.com

Where a company is receiving similar complaints from a number of different sources, I'd expect them to want to ammend their sales pitch/materials.

I mean: If attendees don't like the free gift, are they remotely likely to buy the product the 'free gift' strategy is designed to promote?

I think not, and am unable to imagine what Data Dynamikz hopes to achieve when it insists its materials aren't misleading.

Perhaps it imagines anyone who takes the words 'absolutely free' at face value when they are used by a telemarketer is too naive to invest in the product it is trying to sell, thus permitting its telemarketers to use those words isn't 'alienating at least some potential customers' so much as 'filtering sales leads'?

I don't know. What I do know is that I heard not one but three different telemarketers assure me my 'free holiday' wouldn't cost me a cent, and that the written materials I received stated to the contrary that 'subsidies are exclusive of standard airport and airline taxes'.

Is Data Dynamikz doing anything recipents of its marketing materials might justifiably report as 'illegal'?

It's a tough call, I think, and I haven't decided whether to label its management as 'unethical' in my own opinion or - more generously, I hope - as 'a bit clueless when it comes to dealing with complaints'.

Dynamikz Management said...

The marketing of the holiday voucher is outsourced to third party telemarketing companies and as such, we are unable to account for what has been promised over the phone by third parties. As per our marketing material that is disseminated to consumers via our third party outsourced call centers, it is clearly stated that its a Subsidized holiday and taxes are not inclusive. There is no mention of the word FREE. We are genuine in our offers and as mentioned and reiterated time and time again, we have more than 2000 people who have already travelled using the vouchers and not a single complaint on the quality of the holiday provided by our sponsors. Our documents of proof of travel have been vetted and approved by respective regulatory authorities and agencies and hence there is no reason to doubt our offer as not genuine or unethical.

Once again, for the final time, to all reading this thread, this is a SUBSIDIZED holiday not a FREE holiday. We are not a charity organization to be giving away FREE holidays, but we are a marketing company with very strong overseas travel partners that offer SUBSIDIZED packages as part of their efforts to boost tourism and market their resort and hotel properties.

I've googled up on this Dynamikz / garaway/ Data Dynamikz, they're confirmed a scam and yet this Dave still trying to answer all the post, don't listen to him, a cheater telling lies!

Mike Dirnt said...

Dynamikz management has not address one of the above person who bought a travel membership but was misrepresented with promises like cheap airfares, hotel stay and then poor service after membership purchase.

By the way, i am yet to receive a positive comment from someone who had redeemed the vouchers.

To Dynamikz Travelz (previously Data Dynamikz) or Dynamikz Netwerkz,
Don't you dare to post any replies here, if anyone interested can just purchase the biz profile of the company from Acra, just costs you $5. Dave J or Dave Jaswal or actual name Dave Vijay is the actual name of him. He's the owner of all these companies for which he keep changing the company name and incorporate new company from time to time. His tactic now is trying to accuse that they just sponsor the vouchers and the hard sales were done by a third party and blah blah.... nonsense! They are the one conducting all the hard sales, force attendee to buy membership or travel packge, give you "free" travel vouchers but in the end is not free, don't bother with the redemption, if you've any money loss straight away report to CASE, don't waste your time, do it fast before they close down the company and re-open another one again.

Thanks to the anonymous contributor whose post appears above this one and thanks to Mike for taking a minute to remind us all about the previous contributor in this forum who invested more than $3000 with Dynamikz Travel and sounds to be rather less than delighted with the quality of service he’s received to date.

What might Dynamikz Management have to say to him, I wonder? That sales of Dynamikz Travel memberships are outsourced to one or more third party sales companies and that he/she can’t be held responsible for anything that was promised during a face-to-face consultation with a third party?

I’d be more interested, I think, to hear what Dynamikz Management does consider he/she might be held accountable for, not to mention which of two apparently separate yet obviously quite closely linked Dynamikz companies he/she means to answer on behalf of - Dynamikz Travel? Or Data Dynamiks?

And how are those two companies supposed to be related to one another any way? (I was under the impression Data Dynamiks, whose name appears in at least one document above the tag line ‘Your Preferred Partner in Advertising’, must be the marketer for Dynamikz Travelz. After reading Dynamikz Management’s explanation about how the marketing of its holiday voucher is outsourced to one or more third party marketing companies, I’m no longer convinced that it is, however.)

Which one is the registered travel agent and who on earth are Worldex? Who’s marketing what to whom exactly, and, if Dynamikz Management can’t be held responsible for promises made by third parties over the telephone, who does he/she imagine should be held responsible for having unleashed one of the most inept teams of people ever to bear the title ‘telemarketers’ on an innocent populace?

Enough questions already and, with the greatest respect for all those who are likely to disagree with my assessment, I remain strangely reluctant to label these guys as ‘scammers’; really, I’d prefer to reserve that title for conspirators in an operation that’s rather slicker than this appears to be!

Instead, I’d call them ‘one or more guys who, for some reason I’m unable to fathom, seem to think of themselves as having been remarkably clever even as they are teetering on the brink of disaster.’

Mike Dirnt said...

Scam OR no scam, i will let the readers decide. If ever you want to buy a travel membership, would you buy one from a newly formed company like Dynamikz (been around for only 2 years) or Worldex(been around for less than 1 year)? So think carefully before spending your hard earned money.

As to the subsidised travel, im definitely not fascinated. I rather make my own budget arrangement and do my own selection of airline, location and hotel stay. Nowadays online booking throught asiatravel can already give you good deals.

On a side note, im planning to buy shares of asiatravel. Waiting for the right price :P

To Anonymous 30th Oct,

We do need to reiterate the fact that there is nothing called "FREE" and there is no material that mentions "FREE"...it is SUBSIDIZED. We are not a charity organization giving away FREE trips but we are able to give SUBSIDIZED trips due to our overseas sponsors who SUBSIDIZE your trip to market their overseas properties. Singaporeans are frequent travellers within South East Asia, and our sponsors do intend to givey your an opportunity to stay there and maybe come back again in the future! We have over 2000 travellers who have redeemed the vouchers and travelled so don't be a sour grape and tell people not to redeem, when they are entitled to it in the first place! Is it because you do not have a voucher and would like us to mail you one?

Also please check your purchased business profile first before jumping to the conclusion that the owner is a person name Dave V. Dynamiks Netwerks is owned by Dynamiks Travels Pte Ltd not an individual.

In fact we have enough reason, just looking at your post, to inform you and everyone here, that you are not even a customer, but rather a red-eyed soul out there who is unhappy with the competition we provide you. You are an incompetent businessman who has changed your company name three times in three years just to avoid detection. We have been in business since 2003 and we do not have reason to change our names because we are proud of what we do to assist Singaporeans in getting cheaper holidays!

To Mike Drint Oct 29th

Yes you have not seen a positive comment from someone who had travelled, but have you seen anything negative? Nope. Its people like yourself who chose to flame others for your own incompetence who bring out the negative of others behind the facade of your PC. We have invited you on numerous occassions to visit us in person but to date you have not accepted our invitation.

Regarding the person who has bought a membership and accused of misrepresentation, it is absolute rubbish as well. We have offered him travel prices that are lower in price than any other travel agents, but he is comparing our prices directly with the airline (who is the supplier of airtickets) Is that fair enough a comparison? Please ask yourselves this question.

To Liz Oct 30th

Your posts here will be replied to you in person by Mr. Dave.

To Mike Dirnt Oct 30th 6.46pm

Let us correct you, Dynamikz has been around since 2003 and has grown in time. We are not a two year old company as you proclaim although our Pte Ltd branch was formed in 2007.

Hi,

I have also received a call from Data Dynamikz in Nov 08 and can confirm that the telemarketeer indeed claimed that the travel is absolutely free even after several clarifications, and was pissed off when I received the voucher and read the terms and conditions. $50 booking fee per person, and $200 for Hong Kong. Of course I did not even attempt to redeem the voucher.

Anyway, my main interest is in the
"Petrol Cashback Redemption Certificate". Has anyone received and tried to redeem it? It also comes with a $50 processing fee.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

livingwell do not believe them. remember all the people behind the drama scenes have their own agenda. the telemarketers will tell you all sorts of good things just to make you come down for the presentation. once you are present, the telemarketers get their commission.

when you are in the presentation, a different "artist" will try to sell you something. if you choose not to buy the membership, you will be referred to another "artist" to collect your vouchers. after you redeem the travel vouchers, you will be referred to another "artist" aka "The sponsor" at your holiday destination

I've done a biz profile search on dynamikz, Dynamikz networks is own by Dynamiks travel (previously named Data Dynamikz then now change to Dynamiks Travel), the owner of Dynamiks Travel is this Mr Dave (Vijay, alhtough he use Jaswal here). Dynamikz networks is a biz, while Dynamikz Travel is a Pte Ltd. Why making the biz structure so complicated? Think of it yourself. Btw the address of the owner is there too, I hope he don't move away coz many will go after him.....
Now he claim the 'red-eye', another good tactic. Is it because of red-eye or not, we all can judge it. No free lunch? tell your ah so telemarketer, she said is "FREE", maybe i shd tell her to get me Dave to explain the voucher if she call me again.
Lastly, F*** away DV! shameless creature!

i maybe the only one who has the guts to post some positive things here. anyway, like all of your experiences, i did experience it too all the hassle and things like that. i attended their soft launch last june. i booked my holiday with dynamikz last july, now me and my family will be flying off to hongkong this january. we have everything like the tickets and all those stuff. to make this message of mine short, its normal for an unsatisfied customer to make complaints if what they wanted doesnt come their way. when me and my wife attended the soft lanuch, we didnt expect much especially the Free Holiday. we knew we had to pay some but at least save few dollars. finally, all of you out there, the service wasnt good enough, but at least we're glad we are over it.

I have been invited to the Worldex talk this wed too. Have been to 2 of such "timeshare" talks, among which one of them is Marriott. I have appreciated the Marriott one. They are clear and direct in their marketing approach. Not pushy. I was in fact rather tempted then. But did not take it up cos seldom have the time to travel.

The person who called me, did told me that it is subsidy and not free. He told me we need to pay for airport tax. Maybe they learnt that many bloggers have feedback that the word Free can't be used loosely. People get rather upset as long as they need to fork out their own $$ and not about how much.

Well i must agree that after reading not just from Mike's blog (in fact there are quite a number of bloggers who have had bad experience), I have been rather skeptical. Seriously, with ERP and importance of time and all, hmmm i think i will give the talk a miss. Well, sincerely speaking, how much more does it get us to Langawi/ Phuket/ Bali etc on a budget airlines nowadays without any expiry date (just go when you can apply leave).

To Dave,
I believe that you have happy travellers who have returned already, but I have not googled anything on their happy review. Well you see, many Marriott vacation owners did give their comments. Even we (who did not sign up) gave our happy review on them. Happy or not happy, people will tend to write it down. Do be a little more open to comments and review. And, if those are your outsourced contractors (the telemarketers), you are paying them, they ought to be shot for misrepresentation and giving false impressions to your potential customers, do get a rein on them, instead of saying you are not in control. I have also worked with outsource contractors, they must be very good and represent your brand appropriately and professionally, else you can jolly do it on your own. - Cath (Singapore)

Got a call from someone claiming from Worldex just a moment ago promising FREE holiday if I were to attend their soft launch. Googled and I found this blog. Real glad I rejected the caller after I read this.

Anyway, I attended the talk at Marriot about 2 years ago and claimed the SGD200 shopping voucher on the spot. That was nice.

Whoever running this scheme, you should shoot your telemaketer cause they are misrepresenting your offer, unless its part of the whole scheme... MZ

I received a call too. Few questons I want to clarify. Asked why kid is not allowed, they could not provide me with an answer. May I also understand also why both husband and wife MUST present together? What if my husband is out of town for 3 months?

Just to add, I attended the Mariote one. Impressive presentation, transparent policies, and sincere offer. I did not signed up because we just started family and will not be able to travel often until my kid is older. Marriote's is a bit pricy at $40k. But i will go back to them once i can afford it.

You see, there is a different between a happy customer (for Marriote), and a skeptical one (for the call I just received).

Mike Dirnt said...

Ivy i believe kids not allowed because of distraction in the presentation.

You can bring a male friend and act as your husband. No problem with that as you dont need to prove marital status.

Anyway its true for a happy customer. If i do really want a travel membership, i will go for the Mariott vacation club. I dont mind paying a premium.

WORLDEX is completely a sham, cheated people to transfer their Time shares and asking people to sign up as a member of a club membership call (Holiday Plus).

After transferring their time share to Worldex, more than SGD10,000 was needed to top up for the FUCKING membership. Claiming that they have many accommodation in many countries is all crap.

My parents was being cheated by them, please beware of Worldex and a company name, Project Media as they are both connected.

Project Media will call you up claiming that WORLDEX is on Judicial Management or liquidation now and you will be able to get back the amount more than you invested.
The fees you have to pay is SGD50,000 before Project Media will find you a lawyer to fight the case and they will told you that you will get back the lawyer fees after the case won.

Those who are old and uneducated are being cheated for their hard earn money. Definitely, those people doing such fraudulent trading will have a price to pay for what they had did.

I've just came back from Bangkok using their voucher. Stayed at Taipan hotel at Sukhomvit. Must say it was quite good..beyond my expectation. Overall quite worth it since I calculated I saved about $500. They gave me 2 deluxe rooms since my kids were age 17 and 13 - didn't charge anything for the extra room. Breakfast not provided though. Very central area in Sukhomvit area - overall the holiday was a pleasant experience. Booking it though was not so straighforward but I did mine in June far ahead. Wouldn't mind collecting another one and use for Phuket next year if they allow me to. Had to attend a hotel tour when I was there for about 2hours and basically they were promoting the hotel facilities and a programme.

I happened to attend presentation conducted in Suntec City Tower B, #14 floor couple of days back. The marketing agent company name is Smith and Boron. As usual was told it was only 90 mins tour presentation but end up the entire presentation is 3 hours long and we were given the Dynamikz Netwerkz subsidized holiday envelope at end of presentation. I think this may be one of many new companies which may had been created to push for similar tour membership packages. They might be related and using new marketing company name to replace old companies which already had negative feedback thru internet or words of mouth. Tour agencies mentioned in the presentation include booking agent like Horizon Travel, Concept Travel Agency and etc. Both was told are IATA and CASE accredited agencies. In short, there's nothing free in this world so don't easily taken in.

Hi guys,

Just got back from my Hong Kong trip with Dynamikz voucher. Mike, you are right, I couldn't choose the hotel and was rather skeptical, but it was a great apartment style hotel they put me in. It was called Gold Coast Residence Hong Kong and although it was not exactly near to the city it was convenient getting there since the hotel provided a shuttle service to the city every half an hour. It was a resort style hotel and the cost otherwise is about $250 per night thats what the reception staff told me. Saved quite abit using this voucher since I only paid them the booking fees and taxes and everything else was covered. The staff at Dynamikz told me that its free and easy with no optional tours but I managed to get their help with getting to go to the Disneyland with the children and Ocean Park. Looks like its a good deal after all...worth the little hassle I had to go through though!

Just to share my experience regarding this Dynamikz travel. I received a call recently telling me I had won a 4d3n holiday just by attending the 90min seminar. I gave my email address to receive the confirmation to this "account manager" called "Shah". Upon opening the email I saw that it was a timeshare thing and immediately raised the red flag. The next day when "Shah" called me again I said I decided not to go for the seminar. Immediately his tone turned nasty & said I did not keep my word & he will "charge me". That under the law constitutes a threat. Luckily for me I recorded the conversation. I would delight in referring this to CASE if I do not receive a formal apology. The guilty parties, you know who you are.

Hi All,

I received a cold call from "Data Dynamiks" too. The lady on the phone sounded like an Indian voice with the name Lucy.

To cut the whole story short:

After confirmation, I received two communication -- one to my yahoo email account, and a sms that said:

"Your 4D 3N Thailand & HK 2way flight & hotel package ready for collection today at our Open House #14-07 Takashimaya Tower B @7.15pm. Your Gift Code: ***"

The e-mail address was signed off as:

"Data Dynamiks, Singapore Office RCB52985908D

Data Dynamiks Limited, London Office Reg: 5788343"

It smelled fishy, so I searched online for a reference to them, and am so thankful that I found your blog, and I have immediately cancelled my appointment with them.

Please spread the word around that they are changing their name slightly to fool more people.

Now, instead of Dynamikz with a Z, they are calling themselves Data Dynamiks with S instead.

Fortunately, search engines are very clever too. Thank you guys, you saved me at least 3 hours tonight, and a lot of further headache!!!

If you have received a call and chose not to go because you have read this, then you must be typical "kiasu" Singaporean with no mind of your own. I also read about this when I received a call to go and collect, the girl name also Lucy but she explained everything clearly to me that my taxes not included. At first I didn't want to go after reading, but I called her back and she explain to me that all the people writing on the internet is only a small percentage of the number of happy customers who get to travel using the holiday voucher...finally I believe and I gave her a chance, I went to collect and I had to go back to them to redeem. Quite straightforward, I ask for December travel to Phuket during Christmas, they tell me cannot because very peak period so I chose some dates for January. 2 weeks later they give me back a confirmation and ask me to pay the airport tax. I pay already the tax and they already send me the airticket and hotel reservation paper. End of the day I calculate worth it or not, still worth it since I only pay tax everything else they give me free. Don't be so "kiasi". Have a open mind. In Singapore no such thing as got people can force you to do anything. Got promotion just go lor. Same what, got Singapore sale also just go lor, got Computer exhibition, just go lor, got NATAS fcomplaint is because you all think this one is free or what but where gotair just go lor, nothing to loose mah. I think you all here free thing in this world. They give ywant free. Si beh Kiasu la you allou promotion save money good already still .

If they use bully tactics to call you, I urge you to use the same tactics to react to them.

Everyone should accept the appointments with them, and then don't show up.

I hope these cheats get cheated of their own money some day, they and their family too.

How can they sleep at night, trying to make money from innocent people by deliberately misleading them.

I was told the police are monitoring this website and collecting evidence on this company already, they will strike soon.

Watch the Straits Times, you'll see photo of the culprits charged in court soon. I hope they catch everyone, not just the top but even those so-called "project managers" who harass customers.

If you are their employee and reading this, the best advice is to find another job immediately.

Ask yourself: When they start arresting people, do you want your name on payroll? Who will take care of your kids / parents / spouse when you are sitting in jail? And after the jail record, still can find another job?

Quit now, before it's too late. But no guarantee they won't call you up as witness in court. At least you can claim you quit because you don't agree with their tactis, instead of waiting till it's too late.

What do you think, guys? Are these people genuine? Hahaha...

Maybe they're from a small village in India and suddenly "surplice" to see that Singapore residents are smarting up to them?

Anonymous said...

I didn't have any bias against this company and even wanted to give them a chance.

However still no apology from them & even accusation that I heard wrongly they did not mean to "charge me" when I have recorded the conservation and playback all the time. A threat is a threat. I shall need to lodge a complaint to CASE soon.

Looking at their website listing customers' bookings makes me wonder if they respect their customers' privacy at all.

Regarding changing names and addresses all the time can only fool individuals but not the police as they have registered the co.

Hi,
I got a call today too about the free travel package...did a search and found your site. Thanks so much for warning people here, that would save us some hours :)

Hi guys,
I will go and attend their talk tomorrow. I will also check on the 'subsidized holiday' claimed. Will feedback after that.
We are keen on HK, let's see how it goes.

Mike Dirnt said...

Hi Pris,

Dont be surprise if the HK destination is out of stock. Can anyone wonder how it can go out of stock?

The subsidized holiday is not a big deal. Considering the fact that you need to make a non-refundable fee of $50 per person, you have to make advance booking of many months and you cant choose your preferred hotel. You pay a little bit premium, you can choose your own choice of hotel and dates of holiday early

Wong Fook Onn said...

MIKE DRINT YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY A BLIND COCK WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO READ OR RATHER YOU ARE JUST AN ASS**** FROM ANOTHER COMPANY WHO IS TRYING TO DEFAME ONE OF YOUR OWN COMPETITORS. I HAVE A VOUCHER WITH ME THAT I WANTED TO BOOK FOR BANGKOK OVER CHRISTMAS PERIOD AND I PAID THE BOOKING FEES AND BECAUSE ITS NOT AVAILABLE THAT TIME THEY REFUND ME THE BOOKING FEE I JUST GOT THE CHEQUE TODAY. DON'T ANYHOW NOTHING TO DO DEFAME OTHERS. VERY CLEARLY STATED INSIDE THE VOUCHER THAT BOOKING FEES ARE REFUNDABLE IF DATE OR DESTINATION NOT AVAILABLE.

Mike Dirnt said...

Wong are you another insider? Why get so uptight? :P

You know something? Another 2 friends and I went to the presentation together on the same day but management did not know about this. We know of the refundable fees. And we are not stupid. Because if we want to get the fees refunded, we could all book on the same travelling date.

But we all got pissed because of the non-free holiday actually. So we decided to throw away the vouchers. Do you want to travel on behalf of our slots? We can give it to you by digging back the vouchers.

Wong said...

YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY VERY STUPID AND YOU VERY OBVIOUS WRITE RUBBISH ON PURPOSE. YOU OWNSELF ADMIT THAT THE BOOKING FEES U KNOW IS REFUNDABLE BUT EARLIER U ALWAYS SAY NOT REFUNDABLE. THAT MEANS EVERYTHING U TALK HERE IS COCK AND BULL STORY. YOU ARE VERY "BO LIAO"

Mike Dirnt said...

Refundable if you dont get the dates but non-refundable if you get the dates. Happy? Can you dont be an asshole and type in CAPS?

ALREADY PEOPLE GIVE YOU FREE THEN U STILL WANT TO REFUND AFTER THEY GIVE YOU THE DATES YOU WANT..SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU OR WHAT...IN OTHER WORDS, YOU ACT HERE LIKE U R INNOCENT AND NVER USE THE VOUCHER BUT ACTUALLY U USE AND THEY GIVE U THE HOLIDAY AS PROMISED BUT U DON't TAKE THEN THEY NEVER REFUND U...SO U COME HERE KAO PEH KAO BU...U VERY BO LIAO LA...

Went to the talk 2 days ago. AS expected, they were trying to sell a subsidized holiday program at $12,000.
They were upfront about the free gift as it's a way of exchanging for our precious time of going down to listen.
When it ended, we said no and we were given the voucher for holiday redemption.

The holiday covers only flight and accomodation. You will need to pay for taxes on your own. I thought that was fair.

One thing I don't like is the 'booking fee' of $50 per person. They should throw that in as well since it's a voucher fr. them.

The destination we were interested was Hong Kong and we need to pay additional $150 upgrade fee.

So, I did my sum after going home. Went to Zuji to look for package deal to HK for similar 4D3N arrangement.

The best deal for one person quoted on zuji for 4star accomodation was $537 inclusive of taxes, flight and accomodation.

For for a family of 4, if we use the voucher, we need to pay S$1068 (for taxes and booking fee and upgrade fee)
If we go on our own, we pay $2151.

So, that's about 50% cheaper. Of course, the con is, we don't get to choose our own hotel.

However, if you use the vouchers for other places like Malaysia, Bali, Thailand, Viatnum, there is no upgrade fee. Just pay the booking fee and taxes.

So, you decide, whether or not it's a good deal.

On booking fee, it's stated if your destination is not available, it is refundable. You are given 2 choices for destination.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm...seems like a fair deal..if can save 50% then why not its like taking a one for one holiday, one pay but two go...hehee

Hi,

I have a voucher here. email me at tys31@hotmail.com if you would like to have the voucher. I just attended the 1hr presentation at Orchard Towers tonight. Was offered the membership by a person by the name of John. Nearly wanted to join but decided to go back and consider before committing. The membership costs 4k but if paying by visa/master got 10% off, etc. After having read this post, decide to give the whole thing a miss so whoever wants the voucher, you can email me subject to availability.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike Dirnt said...

Hi,

May i know why dont you want to redeem the vouchers? Were you misled that the travel is free?

My conscience is clear. I attended the presentation for the free vouchers. If i know its a subsidised one, i wont bother to attend. Even if its a 50% discount. As i said, budget travelling is cheap. I dont mind paying a premium and choose my preferred hotel.

Anonymous said...

Strangly, there seem to be more of such 'gimmicks' now a days.

Today I received another phone call from GM Travel. They are located at Maxwell House. They said they are newly launched travel agency and have free 4D3N holiday to give away.

The condition is to attend a 75 mins presentation by both husband and wife.

This sounds similar to Worldex which I attended before.

Another had attended presentation by GM travel at Maxwell House?

Anonymous said...

Guys I am another one to the list of the people who were lured by worldex(Holiday plus)

There are reasons to suspect their motives.

1. They will brain-wash you for long hours and will not let you make fair decsion. You have to to decide there itself and sign-up on the spot, else you will not get all those offers promised in presentation (this is biggest marketing trap - and I am victim)

you have to pay deposit

2. They will take cash and cheque only (not every body carries cheque-book always,so read this CASH ONLY). why not NETS or credit card? Bcause it can be tracked.

3.You are not given cancellation option which is by law mandatory - you can cancel any such contracts within 7 days.

I did go to their office to cancel it next day. After resisting all their persuasions to not cancel it, I gave them a cancellation request and took a signed copy with me.
I was told with a week I will get a call from finance dept to collect my cheque.

Now here is another problem
4. Person who signs all the agreement etc will never receive or return your call. Receptionists will give you same answer that please give you phone number and he will call you back. And that has not hapened till date.
10 days and counting..........

MY next plan of action is to go to
Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE).

let me see how it goes.. any body on same boat with me?

Anonymous said...

Of course they accept cheque..no body bring so much cash on them.

As to why NETS or Credit card, that is a facility that need to be set up.., for new company that might incur additional cost.

Nobody pushes you to buy, they may pressure you, but if you stand firm, you will not fall.

Any company that require you to make decision on the spot and not allowing you time to think spells hard selling....never give in to such sale tactic..
When I was younger, I easily fell for this 'Kia Bo' mentality..but i have learnt.

Anonymous said...

If you are to sign-up and pay deposit (upto 2k) then and there, cheque option is ruled out, until you are big time business man always carrying cheque book around.

Even a small time grocery store accepts NETS payment, and worldex are not newbies.

I get the hard selling part but not clarifying on consumners' cancellation rights is fishy.

I have been to credible service provides where after all the hard sellings you are clearly explained about these things, esp when you signup for liftime contract.

Mike Dirnt said...

You need to set your mind clear. Do you come to collect the voucher OR do you come to sign a travel membership?

If its the latter, i suggest you think carefully.

If you attend to collect the voucher, just be firm and say you are not interested to buy at the end of the presentation. They will simply give you the voucher as a compensation for your time.

But if you intend to collect the voucher, make sure you aware of the points that i have highlighted. Its not a fully paid and FREE travel. If you are not aware, you are wasting your time.

Anonymous said...

Continuing from my earlier message .....
if worldex+holidayplus are genuine and care about their reputations, they should be prompt at handling cases.

It seems these guys are colluding in delaying/avoiding cancellations. The persons attending the calls are un-informed to be able to help you. Infact they seem to be more trained to not forward the call to appropriate person if it's regarding cancellation. All you get is hollow promise of somebody calling back and that never happens.

I am planning to go to CASE and claim double the amount - for all the trauma

Mike Dirnt said...

You can read some posts above. There is someone who bought the travel membership from Dynamikz and seeking refund as he was not happy with the so called discounted traveling price

Anonymous said...

Guys im a victim of these worldex thing. My wife and i went to their office at tong building.we were fooled that we agree to sign a contract but when i think of it we want to cancel the contract,so the following day i called them, they said neither me nor worldex can make a cancellation of the contract...cut the story short we sign up the contract on dec 5,keep on calling worldex they also keep on saying "we will call you back"'
4 weeks after that day someone called me that it cannot be canceled and they will file these things in court.
Anybody of you who wants to lodge a complain tio CASE then we can make filling together?

Anonymous said...

My advice is to go to CASE or the small claims tribunals. I am fighting against Smiths & Baron- another of such a company. My friend fought with them in a hearing yesterday for mispresentation and judge ordered that full refund be made to my friend. So there is a chance here. Don't wait any further, just go and lodge a complaint against them!

Mike Dirnt said...

you shouldnt be too quick to sign up for such memberships. if only you do a search, you will be directed to my blog.

there should be a free lookout period whereby you can request for refunds if cancelled within that period.

in the mean time, go and lodge a complain with CASE. refer CASE to all the posts made in here so to assist their investigations.

Thanks, Mike! I believe this has benefitted many people.

We do got our needs, a better cost saving travel plan no doubt is very attractive. Just think careful if you need it? and it that is your lifestyle. but to me, what i concern most, is those "Travel market agent" would be able to provide those service and keep their promise as what they mentioned. without prejudice, to handle such huge amount of members at the same time and to fulfill their needs would be a tough job. However, i just hope that; Dynamikz could provide a good service to all it's club members. i think at least 85%, you can score "A" (personal comment, mean no offense)

River Marketing, Dynamic network,

Jack said...

em... i would like to say; those irresponsible company really spoils the market. just like you said; we better not attend those talk at all.
To my case; I just sign a membership with "C.D", currently my wife are dealing with their admin for hotel booking, but unfortunately, the out come are really bad;
1. Their staff are unprofessional at all, they don't know anything about customer services.
2. From the same hotel at same date, we found that their price (after 20% discount) are more expensive than we direct book online. and for membership they will given 10% rebate from credit card. only by then we will have a chance to save cost about SGD 9.00 dollar per day. ( This is totally different from what they promise us before.(Guarantee much more cheaper 30%-50%)
3. 1st i though it may due to different hotel room. maybe they provide DELUXE room, so it cost more, friendly speaking we don't mind to pay more, if it value for money. but we cant get any satisfaction reply!!!
4. As you see, to joint this kind of membership, we may need to pay upfront money, and easily up to few thousand. if i can save SGD 9 dollar per room per day. i think i need to stay 365 days in hotel room, that's mean my membership at least worth for money. "i wish god will bless me be health, live longer and of cause rich enough for me to keep traveling."

I Sincerely advise those who read my message, think twice before you plan to attend any talk about travel plan.
and, If you are one of those people that provide such travel services, please don't only think about your pocket.

I sincerely telling the truth, if you need any clarification you may email me " g_bunyap@yahoo.com.sg" or you would like to take over my membership, i willing to transfer to you by 50% discount. perhaps that can cut down my loses.

Mike Dirnt said...

Jack i feel sorry for your loss. Again its best to do due diligence before taking up any membership especially if it involves big money.

basically these companies are out there to make money. just think of it this way, if airlines industry are already making losses, think how can these small companies make money by offering cut throat prices for air flights? they make money from the memberships! make money from people like you who are naive and gullible. sorry if i say this. but im stating the truth.

anyway thanks for sharing your case. try to do something to recoup your membership

I fell for the hard selling on the day I visited WorldEx (Dec 09). Lucky that I only make a downpayment via Cheque (They are so desperate that they drove all the way to my home in the middle of the night to pick up the cheque). Having read the mails, I called up the bank the very morning and stop cheque ($30) and followed up with 2 registered mail (cost me S$5.80) to WorldEx and Vivendi LLC to terminate the agreement (all done within the 5 days cooling period). Thank God, my lost is about $40 and the 4 hell hours that we endured. Could have make better use of the hours than to waste it on the meaningless session. Didn't bother to use the FREE Vouchers as it is NOT FREE! Anyway, no news from WorldEx to date.

So did anyone goes to CASE?

I received the same voucher from Smiths & Baron too.

Hi Everyone i also signed membership with worldex and we cannot also refund the money.

There's no 5 star hotel they offering when we tried booking. Much cheaper and better to book online.

If anybody filling the case against them, im joining with you guys.

can reach me at sfsanson@yahoo.com.

Victim said...

me too, cheated and a victim now. I read this blog in January, before going to the presentation, but I went not because of the freebies, but what the product they want to sell - membership to the so-called luxury five star hotel stays. lucky or unluckily , I paid the $3k 3 years membership, instead of original $12k. Of course there is no 5 star hotel. even after paying the membership everything starts to be suspicious, we waited one month and numerous complaints then we got our membership login id. Reservations was such a hassle, calling many times, emails, just to book a hotel place. And now I'm still waiting for the response for a hotel in europe. I'm sad that I didn't heed any warning signs, when the beginning of this blog was purely complaints on the freebies, but now I want to share the fact that the product Worldex is selling is also just a scam. no "luxury" hotels as they presented on the presentation slides. And lots of hassle just to book from their network. PLease do not even bother to sign up. if still not convinced, let me know if you want me to contact you to show how the membership works.

I am not a person who easily give up. I will use some of my time from now (not telling how :P), my own methods to dissuade innocent people who are going to listen to their presentation. One day this company will have to pay for their crime.

Mike Dirnt said...

Victim,

actually my purpose of this post is to discuss more on the "free" holiday. that is what concerns me.

i dont really bother about the membership because from the very beginning i know it is a piece of crappy membership.

anyway since you guys share about the membership, i think its a good reminder to the others. just a simple worldex search, readers can be warned. i am surprised till now the company is still alive.

Victim said...

sfsanson, please go straight to CASE and report it. which I did. you need to do it yourself. please make an effort to do it, everyone who reported here. CASE mentioned that because the cases reported so far on worldex is not alarming enough. that is why this company still exists.

Hi fellows,

Should have read your comments earlier.

Just attended a talk yesterday. Fortunately didn't signed the $4+ package. But, unfortunately, already paid $100 booking fee for my wife and I for Bangkok trip.

We knew from the start that it is not a free trip though. Was told that we need to pay airport tax ranging up to about $130 depending on the airline and likely to travel by budget airline. Checked both Jetstar and Tiger and noted that Tiger has higher airport taxes.

Booked a trip for April. The guy just faxed the form. We asked why can't the booking be done immediately. He said that the reservation is done by another company. Of course, he wasn't happy that we didn't sign up the package.

Anyway, was told to wait for confirmation of trip within 14 days and future liaising will be via email (no phone available)

Let's see how it goes...

Mr Ng said...

We just came back from our Bangkok trip with DYNAMIKZ TRAVELZ. Overall, everything went smoothly and we managed to save quite a bit with the travel vouchers.
Their reservation staff Pauline is also very prompt in replying our travel requests and enquiries. Hopefully, they can maintain such standards for our future trips.

The telemarketers are so irritating. I already told them that I’m not interested in that talk and they kept calling and calling non-stop trying to persuade you to attend their presentation. Do they understand English???

Anyway, after reading your blog, I am not one of the victims but I feel fed-up by this kind of company exists in Singapore. I find that this company knows the loop holes of biz law. Thus he can able to escape and change so many company names even after so many complaints by the victims. He is making use of Singaporeans gullible character and cheating our people money $$$...

Let’s hope that he run down by a car and marks the end of story.

Support Telemarketers said...

Mr Wong, before you curse people kenna bang by car you better think twice...you maybe don't know that many telemarketers do the job of telemarketing because they do not have any other job that they can do. Some are blind, some are handicapped, some are old and some are single mothers supporting kids and some are children supporting parents. I used to hate such telemarketing calls but one day I went to the handicapped home and saw a bunch of telemarketers and when we talk to the project coordinator she even explained to us they are not allowed to use sympathy to sell or do their job because its against they're organization principals and ethics and thats why they're job is very hard but many of them have no choice. Same way, I believe in many telemarketing companies, the staff are all just earning a living and are doing the job because they have no other choice. So before you anyhow curse people to be banged down by car, you should be banged down by lorry then with no hand and no leg you also may become a telemarketer one day because no choice.

Ms Wong said...

To: Support telemarketers

First of all, I am not Mr and I am Ms. Anyway, did you read properly of what I commented. I didn't say a single thing about the telemarketer ganna bang by a car. The only thing I commented is the telemarketer keep calling and calling even though you already told them “I am really not interested and please don't call my number again”. Well, I myself is a telemarketer and for your information, I am perfectly alright with arms and legs with me right now. I dare to tell you that never did I ever look down on anyone’s jobs as I think each of us has its own purpose.

What I had commented is that I hope the person who is behind the scene trying to cheat Singaporeans money because they are easily to trust people and end up paying the money without getting the service or some even receiving bad/irresponsible service.

They are just clever that even after so many people being cheated and complaint and now they are still at large. You must know that these are people's hard earn money. So let's hope that god punish them. I admit that I maybe using extreme words to describe but after browsing the blog that people commented, I think those people who got cheated by the company will also curse and swear the company and the staff who sold it to them.

Just image that you paid $4,000 ++ and above and then you get nothing after wasting so much of your time…… the next word that you will say is #AZ#$%&^%$#FFDG$%^^$#@

RIGHT???? (likelihood is that at least 80% of the group)

What do you think?

Cheapskates said...

Still waiting for confirmation of trip...

Mike Dirnt said...

alright guys try to cool off. i dont think we should blame a telemarketer for doing his/her job. it is the company that is to be blamed. let me give my fair opinions on worldex employment.

1) i have personally visited their office at Rolex building. from what i can see, the company cant employ handicaps/less fortunate people. why? because their telemarketers have such a small and pathetic working space. the company couldnt possibly be employing wheel bound handicaps to jam their office premises. but i could possibly be wrong though

2) the other reason is, the company employ foreigners. why employ foreigners when they can find abundance of less fortunates locally? are our less fortunates people too choosy? no i dont think so. i dont think they are given the opportunity.

Hi all,

Came across this thread. Just want to share my experience with Dynamikz Netwerkz so far. My wife and I had placed the deposit of $200 each (total $400) in December for a Hongkong holiday. However, we were informed in January that this is no longer offered and we can opt for a refund, which we did of course.

I received their refund cheque last Thursday and it was only for $100. I googled, and came upon the number for Dynamikz Travel, which i called. The lady Pauline told me my case pertains to Dynamikz netwerkz which is another affliated entity, but she will take down my case and ask someone to call me urgently. She also gave me a number to their office (at my insistence) and cited that they are still applying for a number so it is not settled. Turns out the number is not valid. It really makes one wonder why a company who claims they are legitimate and in business since 2003 do not have a contact number at all. My guess is that this is because they have too many complaint cases to handle?

I dropped an email to the reply address stated and also this person named dave, who was not the least bit apologetic about their mistake and only said that they will check if it is really a mistake and if so will process it.

Do note that they have stated their accounts department is handled by an external agency, and closes their records on the 18th of every month. We waited since Jan till March for this incorrect refund. Not sure how much longer we need to wait and if it will even come eventually. I have already prepared my case to bring up to CASE in event resolution is not achieved, but i hope to avoid this course of action.

I have also offered my handphone or even to go to their office to present my receipt for $400 payment to tally against their records, but stated that they should prepare to pass me the correct refund cheque on the spot, and if it is so troublesome to get one issued from their accounts dept, to prepare cash refund. To date no one has called me, neither have they requested for us to help to show them the documents at their office. I hope they are not dragging their feet on this.

I hope that people who are contemplating attending or booking with Dynamikz, or even thinking of taking up their membership refer from my experience so far on how hard it is to settle a simple claim/refund. I have only stated the facts so far and can substantiate this with a well documented email to justify my points.

Of course, if my claim is eventually resolved fast and without hassle, i will clarify things here too. I only seek to be objective.

Hello everyone,
The new Co COLONIAL STRATEGIES may have morphed from Worldex. I saw their vouchers start with the code WDX so i thought it may have come from Worldex. Anyway the 3 key people there were a Hongkie called DARREN, a Brit called Mr GEORGE, owner of the HOLIDAY PLUS club, and a white guy with bad teeth who looked like a pimp. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this CO and PEOPLE. The best way to double your money is to fold it into two and keep it away from these lot.

Just to update, 3 days without response from Dave or Dynamikz, and everytime i offer my hp if they need clarification or even to bring documents to show them if they need proof. A few more days and its time to make a complaint to the authorities...

yes dynamic travel or dynamikz travel have a new name. called colonial strategies.

basically they can use many different names . what matters is to hook you people to their office.

they can change names often but their office can only change location every 6 / 12 months? hahaha
they are situated at orchard Rolex Building.

anyone know they exact floor?

I dont know why the hell this company keep on calling me to come down for their seminar. I think i have received more than 10 calls on separate occassions. Now i have put the number 67385170 on my block list.

Time passing fast, it is already 2 months since i sign as a members with DYNAMIKZ. But until today, i didn't enjoy any benefit yet. from the 1st booking that we made, that is 2 month before. till now we got no confirmation yet. the only excuse they give is; 1)NO vacancies. 2)No more business relation with others parties, so some destination we cant chose.
well, they will counter propose us to travel to Thailand. maybe due to politic unstable, travel to Thailand will be more cheaper.
*** Or we can chose to refund our booking fee; but it take time to process, but will the amount correct? or they need to drag it for a period so that, they can get some interest from BANK?***
!! I give them an open date, hopping that, it will make their work easy and we can plan for travel, but at the end what we get is no more contact.!!!

I'm not sure if it is a "cone" or not?!, but at least i confirm that their services is "Kan Si Lang" Bad... I'm doubt of their capability, ability, sincerity...but the only thing that we can 100% confirm is their aggressiveness of getting new members...

So brothers & sisters, may i wish you good luck that you can read my post...

If you indeed join such membership you should leave your real name and contact number so others can contact you to discuss if they are in the same situation. Your thread seems like an attempt to defame them just like many others here are trying to do especially Mr Mikey Dyrint who is very obviously a staff or ex-staff of Worldex Asia since he even knows how big or rather how small the telemarketing room in that office is and is very quick to point that out. No customer would even know that because the telemarketing room is not even visible to customers. To the person who got the wrong refund amount, mistakes do happen and I'm sure they wouldn't be in the business of cheating customers of a few hundred dollars since they have been around for 7years already they are obviously doing the right thing unlike many other companies out there who change names every 6 months or every year.

Well anyways that said and done, I was just as skeptical as many of you here but when I went to them to do the booking of my holiday, I asked to see if it was genuine and I was shown files and files dating back to 2005 till recently of all the people who have used their travel vouchers and travelled and these were with real airtickets and hotel confirmations. Even showed me a few who managed to get to take airlines like SQ, United, Cathay apart from the majority who were on Jetstar and Tiger. They explained that it depends on the sponsor corporate allocation for the flights and hotels.

Well I already submitted mine for July since they advised its better to book early. I'll update once i receive confirmation.

Neutral dont be so stupid to sound like as though you are NOT an insider. You dont need to be so uptight if you are really neutral.

For those who have paid a visit to their office premises at Rolex building, will know how sloppy the place is. The telemarketers are cramped like sardines inside a room whereby there is only 1 door to access. All the visitors can see when the door opens.

The whole office is damn sloppy and i think offices at the construction sites looks much more professional. Give me another chance to visit that place, and i will surely take photos and upload in this blog. But i think my time is not worth the effort unless you guys can pay me at least $250 per hour.

enough said, now some action. Whoever wants to deal with this in combined effort, please contact me at lanceka21@gmail.com. We are planning to go to small claims tribunal court for this and more similar cases should be better.
please also go to CASE for people who have suffered victim to this company, this is the first step towards getting this company removed. Do something.

ps. I wish the pimp looking bald guy will downgrade very soon to pimping!

I also got a phone call to attend the Tong Building (Rolex center), once we got there in the lobby, we saw a couple of 50 yrs old were unfriendly and challengely greeted by this tall bold Angmo who said "Have u been here before? U look familiar, you can't come here more than once" and the old gentleman sincerely can't hide the fact he's been there except for the different company name that invited him. Then I looked at the wall behind the recept, and guess what ? there are about a 6-8 different co. Name&Logo hanged on the wall, incl Colonial Strategies. The old couple was quick to express their displeasure as they dont want to waste their time, but after few exhange of words, they are persuaded to enter a room, and 5 minutes later they came out peacefully without saying another words. Then I started to get a bad feeling abt this, and my wife was quick to give the presentation a miss but I ensist. While we're waiting for our turn to be called, a get a sms saying that "They decided that we will not get the free travel as promised due to bla bla bla..." Then they called our name, and they said sorry that COlonial can't get my self a room for presentation since it was full and jam packed. For token of goodwill they still give us the FREE holiday 4D/3N voucher and handed us the DYnamikz Netwerks envelope. I still have the envelope with me , and was going to send email to DYnamikz.com but after thinking of the 50SGD per pax + the taxes+surcharge we need to pay, and also having the uncertainty of the which hotel my family is going to stay, I think I will give this voucher a miss. For a family like us, we need certain feeling of security. We need to know if the hotel is in good condition, healthy & clean, not only look nice on the web...and most important is safe & secure. I better use my Krisflyer points or Jetstar to fly, and use the tripadvisor.com review on budget/good hotels.

Mike Dirnt said...

Jorge,

thats exactly my sentiment too. a sense of security is very important! i have given my voucher to one of the readers in here. i hope he had a good holiday.

Guys,

I lodge my complain to CASE and they help me a lot,and Worldex sent an email that they are going to pay back my deposit, but after a 2 months they still didnt make the payment,so i will go to claims tribunal and bring the letter that worldex send.
Its good that we have CASE that help people like me to chase this kind of scams.

Mike Dirnt said...

By the way, worldex is history. Maybe can alert CASE of Colonial Strategies.

Typically, I guess these companies change their names to avaoid detection.

WorldEx now has a sighboard showing Beauford Park but everyone there are the same people.

Dear Singaporeans,

reading your blogs, I guess we just have to be real careful. I was lucky to attend Marriott's first before any others, signed up and have travelled with ease thereafter. The villas in Phuket are real nice, ideal for family with children. it is sad to see many others who have signed other programs and cant use them. I hope the authorities can do more to regulate this further.

Anonymous said...

My husband and I attended yesterday at Tong Building. I knew from the start is going to be some sort of a story telling sales pitch to con people into joining their membership. Telemarketeer kept calling me many many times to persuade me to attend. Ok I thought why not go listen to crap talk and learn how conmen con people as I love observing these kind of salesmen selling their wares. Oh yes, the sales person can actually tell you cock and bull life story of his own to keep you occupied before the bald man comes to do his presentation. Oh not forgetting that once you stepped into their office you will notice the smell of conmen around - hahahaha. I can tell you all out there who are planning to attend that IS DEFINITELY A BIG SCAM, Unless you are like me who loves to attend con workshops you may do so but do not get hypnotise into parting with your $2k as deposit.

Yes I did receive the so called subsidised travel voucher after the presentation but have thrown it away.

I heard they are a bunch of ang mohs too so they should be deported as well...!!!

Dear all

Just went for the briefing today by Colonial Strategies. Nearly got hooked. Luckily, we smelt a rat. The deal is too good to be true.
No wonder the sales guy wanted us to commit then and there without giving us time to go home and ponder over this. Kept pressing us about the $2 K deposit. High pressure tactics. Almost sadly desperate.

NEVER ATTEND ANY OF THESE TALKS BY THESE GUYS. EVERYTHING MENTIONED BY MIKE is true.

They oversell their holiday packages. A bunch of crap.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Annonymous.I was there last week, and only bumped into this website today. These bunch of losers should not be cheating people. They claimed to be able to get hotels at 75% off corporate rate. However, no claim was made in black and white. Just all talk. Handphones must be switched off too before entering the conference room. See the link? No handphones, no recording devices to make sure they keep their promises. Wasted 3 hours of our valuable time, better spent idling at home.

I have not heard from CASE/worldex after 2 months now of escalating for a refund, it's great that someone here has got at least a reply from worldex about refund. Yes, please continue to pursue from tribunal court. Me and another couple are also going to tribunal court next week, I don't think CASE did much in this situation ... I was hoping CASE could do more since it has reported and assisted about those Spa cases where people lost significantly less amount than this worldex case of ten of thousands! is it because this is a case of angmoh ?!
Anyway, we were told more cases to Tribunal court then better case to fight. So we are combining efforts. here's some singapore law reads : http://www.singaporelawwatch.sg/remweb/legal/ln2/rss/legalnews/66958.html?utm_source=rss+subscription&utm_medium=rss

Dynamikz Netwerkz - Absolutely appalling. Dont ever trust them.

Today my wife and i went to the office of Dynamikz Netwerkz for the redemption of Hotel & Travel. After a wait at the orchard towers office we were attended to by a guy calls himself Shankar at the travel desk. Most unfriendly, impolite abnoxious character who kept mumbling about wordex. Then he went on to say that hotels are not easily available and need 90 days notice. He also went to state that there is yet another presentation. At this point i made it clear i do not want to take up any membership. He kept on insisiting on reasons why and eventually i decided to walk out of the place. These are conmen and so not trust them. Later in the week i will also take up the issue with CASE as this kind of behaviour is unacceptable by any country standards.

Mr Soh said...

Rather weird...same guy attended to me last week when I went...found him very friendly and very contrary to what you say. You must have been a very rude customer or something because he was very helpful and although I didnt take up anything he still assisted me with the redemption of the voucher and managed to check for me availabilities straight away. Yes you are right, as per the terms of the voucher, reservations should be 90 days in advance to stand higher availability chances but he managed to get me some dates in June for Phuket which is great since its school holidays and i'll be taking the kids..if it turns out to be a good holiday i'll come back and see him again...promised him a t-shirt and post card as well.

Anonymous said...

Dear Mr Soh, you must be the action character from Heroes. One day Shanker and THE NEXT Soh. Funny isn't it..people come to blogs to air out heir fustrations..happy customers do not blog their experiences especially if you should be the only one being attended. you read and ponder at the most, maybe even counting your lucky stars, if you ever get the holiday. second group of people writing on this blog would be self disquised blokes as yourself. So please do rememebr to buy the t shirt you promised yourself. and really, no one believes any nice comments from a rogue company. there are no kind thiefs.

one more thing MR SOH, what are you doing being up at 5 am , the time of your blog. married men with kids sleep early and go to work. u decided to write in a blog.

they have to be stopped! they just don't cheat clients. they also cheat on their staff..i used to work as a telemarketer. interview state that they do "property and real estate"..i noticed inside the room says "HOLIDAY PLUS"..i ignored it. then came my 1st week of work, the pay structure says 1-2 Q's 100 each..then 3Q's $10/ hour..????? basic is 10 dollars an hour...i was shock when i get my paycheque in 2 weeks. i got 66 dollars. i was dumb, if you really study the pay structure, its 100 dollars every client turn up...

Sadly have only just seen this thread.
My husband and i went to presentation today. i was dubious from the start and asked to see and speak to someone from the company before the presentation started. Bald, common Englishman with a really tacky gold ring who had one of those common pom accents!!! We didn't believe a word he said plus we did ask the question - so will we get a holiday at the end of presentation and he said no, we would have to buy into something - not sure what as we decided there and then to leave immediately.
I cannot believe that this kind of business is operating in Singapore as so many people must have been conned. How can we put a stop to this?
Should i report this to the police? What does one do. I just wanted to warn everyone going inside to leave as i just knew that the place stank of a big con show!
I am going to do everything i can to try and stop these crooks from cheating Singaporeans.

Too bad I came across this website too late.

Anyone had there agreement split into two? One for Holiday Plus (timeshare) and one for a membership with Our Vacation Center (OVC)?

They put the "deposit" I gave as payment for this OVC membership, and it's non-refundable! I was so gullible. They said it was a "present", but it was used as a mechanism to "lock" the money they received in case buyers like me change our mind during the 5-day cooling period.

Anyone in the same situation? Can CASE help us? The agreement they drafted has them well covered.

Anonymous said...

WORKED AS A TELEMARKETER FOR DYNAMIKZ NETWERKZ.I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM.

Anonymous said...

I am just like you...I give the $2k and its not a deposit. I went to OVC and made a complain why I got to pay them $2k. Threat to call police and CAD, got back my money. OVC can sue them for cheating. OVC don't know what Colonial / Worldex is doing. They made up the invoice. Look for Ms Lin at OVC and tell her you want your money back or else ....

Anonymous said...

Hi, may I know how did u manage to get back your 2k deposit? OVC returned it to you? Or colonial?
What did you threaten them with?
How was the process?
I would also like to get back my deposit... Tks.

Anonymous said...

If you don't get your refund back, go straight to tribunal court, there has been alot of cases against worldex there already, they have to respond to court and the procedure is fast with tribunal (can forget about wasting the money and time on reporting to CASE - they only keep track of cases and can't do anything).

Anonymous said...

I was one of those who nearly got suckered by those sleazeballs. What a lucky escape! They were too persistent and the warning bells sounded off the minute they insisted on a deposit then and there without giving us time to think carefully. I hope those bunch of crooks get their just desserts. Specifically behind bars. What they are doing is unethical!

Anonymous said...

I should have googled for 'colonial strageties' earlier so that i would not have gone to their presentation if i had known they are time share company. While there, they keep insisting they are not time share company and after presentation, they keep pressing me to pay a $2K deposit immediately (although they say no obligation). when i say i am not interested as i dont have so much money on hand, they say i "liar liar pants on fire' and even commented that "are you a pauper until you must eat grass downstairs?". they even suggested me to take a credit card loan, line of transfer etc.. and when i say i want to do more research on their company thru the internet as i dont quite trust them, the sales staff face immediately changed and say i am wasting his time...wat an attitude!! luckily i am firm and still say 'no' although they willingly to give me discount on the membership. these con men should be brought to justice!!

Anonymous said...

Why oh Why did I not read all your comments before I went to the talk at Colonial Strategies' last week.

From the moment i reached there, i just had eerie vibes . The receptionist was %^^$$^(((*#$ m she looked at us like we were beggars wanting only a free gift .

We were brought to a room and yes, that bald caucasian guy tried to use his 'charm'. He used an old trick too. He kept asking us what did the telemarketeer say to us , and he inserted remarks like "you know, some marketeers will say anything to get you to come down" . Obviously he wanted to make us trust him by slagging off someone else .

Then we were led to another room- it was so pathetic ...It was a corner room with no windows . Felt like I was in a storeroom.

A young chap then sat with us and did the next trick- telling us about himself , about why he was with this company, about why he did not want to work at another place. Well, luckily my hours of watching Criminal Minds, Law and Order , Profiler have taught me that this is the most common method of getting you to open up yourself more to them .

But you know what made me so sure they were dubious ?
Firstly, it was the music . They kept playing music and incresing and decreasing the volume. At times, we ended up almost having to shout and at times, we had to whisper . Hmm, they wanted others either to hear or not to hear selective things , hence the playing with the music.

SEcondly, none of those who attended to us gave us their name cards . Hmm, even the most junior rookie at the bank, insurance company will give you a name card , Instead, they give you a non-stop spiel about their life history .

Thirdly, they never answer your question directly . Whenever you ask how much to be a member, they refuse to answer .Instead, they keep showing you more pictures about the hotels etc

Fourthly, they use teh same script again and again . They keep repeating words like Quality of Life, etc . But when I shocked them by saying i dont want my children to have that quality of life but to be frugal , they did not know what to say . So, you guessed it, they repeated the same script again and again ......

Next, they fail to practise what they were selling . If you want to sell Quality of Life and Best Hotels, you do not waste your guests' time of keep them waiting. Yet, there were long moments when we were told to just sit and wait , sit and wait ..with nothing to do . That was surely intended to wear us out, so we would get tired and succumb, but the discerning traveller would see this as a huge turn-off .

The Clincher - the 4 day 3 night voucher . Not even a phone number . Just an email to contact , and with an auto-rejoinder which eaves you hanging . Again, is this how a company selling a Quality of Life sells itself ?

To Colonial Strategies,
1. People do not fall for fancy pictures and sleek powerpoints.

2. People would only respect you if you respect them .

To anyone out there who has received the 4 day, 3 night voucher

Please share how you managed to get this holiday ...so far, in know of no one who has successfully done so.

P.S . To those who may receive phone calls and attend invites, do take down notes...You will find that at the talks, they dont even provide you with a pen and paper to record anything .....and isnt it amazing that in this day and age, they actually ask you to turn off your handphones ? so even if you have a genuine emergency, you cannot be contacted ? Or is it because they dont want you to call anyone for advice or second opinion.

you were there last week? was it on 15 May? I was there for the 15 May presentation... He said that C.S. is giving free flight tkts and hotl stay at any destination we choose and its all free for 4 days 3 nites. I told him we r not free to come and collect the tkts so can u post it to us. He said this is only for S'poreans and as such need to verify our citizenship..LOL..i said we r busy and can't come down. He turned rude and said that no body can be that busy and even got the cheek to suggest that i talk to my hubby first before turning him down. Told him i will get back to him.

I've visited the website on the voucher to make an appointment and as i was browsing through the website I saw a list of people's names who have utilized the voucher for selected trip dates so I guess its worth giving a shot. Can't be that noone has gotten to use it otherwiswe they won't be giving such a thing right? Looking at the posts it seems this 4d3n voucher has been going on for a long while now and if nobody could use then surely they would be in trouble.

I'll update here more info once I have redeemed it and will keep you people posted.

Anyone had there agreement split into two? One for Holiday Plus (timeshare) and one for a membership with Our Vacation Center (OVC)?
Hi I went for the 23 May 10 briefing at Hilton Hotel by Colonial Strategies. Was in the same predicament as someone before.
They put the "deposit" I gave as payment for this OVC membership, and it's non-refundable! I was so gullible. They said it was a "present", but it was used as a mechanism to "lock" the money they received in case buyers like me change our mind during the 5-day cooling period.

Could anyone advise on the best course of action. Other than potentially losing the $2k, they also threaten to sue me for the 1,000 GBP for the going ahead with the holiday plush program. Is this enforceable in court?

Victim on revenge said...

Please, do not be more gullible to believe what they say or threaten. They told me all sorts of threatening statements - they know the law they cannot refund blah blah blah, until when I went to tribunal court then they offer to refund. You can always make an effort to consult CASE, or spend a little more to meet a lawyer for 30mins consultation, doesn't cost you more than a hotel buffet meal, to know all the facts on the table since already lost $2k right ?

Victim on revenge said...

Ramachand Krishna, they are in trouble! Are you dreaming ? so many blogs and posts on negative reputation of worldex and C.S they have to change names to get out of trouble, the law has loopholes and people are gullible, so this has been going on for years in singapore with timeshare/travel scam. so you are one of those inside people trying your luck here ;) well anyone who wants to know my experience at the tribunal court and what I hear there about these scam let me know how I can contact you to provide more info.
