Hi,

I am new to trading. Can I check with you two things?

1) How do you calculate the holding period return? what does it mean?

2) how do you calculate the annualised return? what does it mean?

3) How come u are receiving so much dividend per month?

Please pardon me if these sounds like stupid questions to you.

thank you.

Hi,

can see that you are really new.

1) it means the return of your portfolio in a particular period. its monthly for my case. you can then compared this HPR with STI. read the following site for more knowledge
http://www.investopedia.com/exam-guide/cfa-level-1/quantitative-methods/discounted-cash-flow-time-weighted-return.asp

2) if your return is 5% for 6 months period, then your annualised return is [(1.05)^12/6]-1.

alternatively, you can use [0.05/6]*12

annualised return means your return in a year

3) dividends amount depend on your portfolio size.
